Local Parks
Potato Creek State Park
Did you know that we have a big, beautiful state park within our county's boundaries? The six square-mile Potato Creek State Park is owned and maintained by the Indiana DNR. The park features a wide array of features for year-round family enjoyment (although if you saw my feature about sledding last winter, you know that the weather can effect your plans!). Featuring a Nature Center and picnic shelters, as well as bike rentals and swimming, the park might be just the ticket for your next family outing. Before you go, be sure to grab a copy of their flier.

The
Football Hall of Fame is among the nation's premier sports shrines, preserving the history and ongoing story of college football while promoting an understanding of the positive values of the sport. The Hall of Fame is one of many programs conducted by the National Football Foundation to recognize, preserve and foster values developed through participation in amateur football.
The
Studebaker National Museum opened at it's new location in October, 2005. The Museum's collection of wagons, vehicles and artifacts spans 150 years of local industrial history. Within it's collection of presidential carriages is the museum’s oldest vehicle, the Lafayette carriage, built in 1824. The Museum's new home is a state-of-the-art facility reflecting the design traditions of Studebaker buildings from the 1920s and 1930s.
The Museum Campus at Washington and Chapin streets also houses the Northern Indiana Center for History. This magnificent historic site showcases Copshaholm, the 38-room Victorian mansion of industrialist J. D. Oliver and his family. The Center also features five exhibition galleries as well as the Kidsfirst Children's Museum, an interactive gallery that encourages children to explore history through hands-on activities.
