Using Legal Resources at the Library

  • There are many reasons why you may need legal assistance. The Library offers an assortment of reference sources to help you with your legal information needs.

Blind justice

The Library staff CAN:

  • direct you to available law books, including: codes, rules, statutes, opinions, and cases;
  • provide telephone numbers for local lawyer referral services, legal services agencies, or volunteer attorney networks;
  • direct you to court form publications.

The Library staff CANNOT:

  • provide legal advice or legal interpretations;
  • advise you whether or not you should bring your case to court;
  • advise you what to say in court;
  • select or fill out court forms for you, or tell you what words to use in your court forms.
