Databases and Online Reference
Databases are an excellent resource for finding magazine, journal and newspaper articles, definitions, directories and information on health conditions, fitness and nutrition, diseases, prescription drugs, public health and safety issues as well alcohol and drug abuse. These databases are available from your home computer with a valid St. Joseph County Public Library Card.
The Following resources do not require a library card login and provide helpful information.
- Medline Plus Health topics, drug information, a medical encyclopedia, medical dictionaries and directories especially
for consumers from the National Library of Medicine.
- Merck ManualWorld's most widely used medical text is available free of charge on the net.
- PDRhealth Consumer information form the Physicians' Desk Reference includes disease overviews, drug information and clinical trials.
