'''Harvest time!'''

-
Enjoying the last weeks of summer always includes harvest for the gardener. Tomatoes are ripening, peaches are ready, local sweet corn is available, green beans, zucchini and other summer squashes - the variety is endless.  Keep your harvest picked, so plants will produce more, and remember to keep the weeds down so you can see the fruits of your labor!

Pests can be a problem, too - everything from bean beetles to raccoons that take bites of almost perfect veggies. There are many commercial products for pest control, but an organic spray for beetles that can help is made up of common household products:

-

-
1/2 gallon water

-
1 T. dishwashing liquid

-
1/4 c. vinegar

-
2 t. cayenne pepper flakes

-

-
Mix together and spray on leaves and pests.
