The faculty, staff, and administration of James Whitcomb Riley High School cooperatively provide a quality, positive learning environment enabling all members of our diverse student population to become successful and productive.

Belief Statements

We believe that:

  1. All students are capable of learning when goals are appropriately set, and all conditions for learning support achievement.
  2. Varied learning strategies provide students with the tools for lifelong learning.
  3. Our graduates should possess an understanding of the responsibilities of good citizenship and practice democratic principles without regard to race, creed, gender, national origin, or economic status.
  4. All students are capable of adapting to changing technology.
  5. Students experience opportunities to achieve emotional and physical well-being through discipline and responsibility.
  6. Students should have an awareness of how school subjects and school attendance relate to success in the world of work.
  7. Everyone should be treated with respect.
  8. Students develop communication skills through successful interactions in the academic and extra-curricular school environment.
  9. Learning to cooperate and compete in an essential skill in life.
  10. By offering a diverse curriculum, the faculty, staff, and administration should encourage and inspire students to attain excellence in scholarship.
